Katina Ceremony -2019

To mark the end of resident monks’ three-month rainy-season observance (Vassāna), Great Lakes Buddhist Vihāra is planning to have the annual Katina ceremony on Sunday, November 10th 2019, at Hindu Temple in Farmington (30785 Grand River Ave. Farmington, MI 48336), with the participation of about fifteen members of Mahā Saṅgha.

This year, Katina ceremony is sponsored by the Sri Lankan Student Association of Wayne State University. In addition to the main sponsors, you have the opportunity to be a part of this highly meritorious ceremony

The programs will be as follows:

  • Saturday, November 09th: A Special Paritta chanting ceremony from 5.00 – 7.00 PM at Great Lakes Buddhist Vihāra.

  • Sunday, November 10th: The main Katina ceremony from 9:30 AM – 2:00 PM at Hindu Temple in Farmington.

You are cordially invited to participate in the Katina ceremony to gain the highest merits of Aṭamaha Kusal. It is the 22nd Katina Ceremony of Great Lakes Buddhist Vihara. Your kind support for this special event is greatly appreciated.
