  Visit Us:  You are always welcome to visit our center and meet with the monks.   We have reserved the time peroid between 3:00PM -5:00PM ,seven days per week for your convenience. We often provide services in other places, so please call before coming to be sure that we will be in: (248) 353-8155

The venue for each public event will be notifed by email and will be posted on the website prior to each event.

Katina Ceremony 2010

To mark the end of the three-month rainy-season observance (Vassana), Great Lakes Buddhist Vihara is planning to have the annual Katina ceremony on Sunday, November 14th 2010, at Country Place Community Center, 21100 W. Glen Haven, Northville, MI 48167, with the participation of about twenty members of Maha Sangha.

This year, the 13th Katina ceremony will be sponsored by Ranjini and Prasad Deraniyagala and family.

As a friend and supporter of Great Lakes Buddhist Vihara, you are cordially invited to join with us in this wholesome annual event.

The schedule will be as follows:

* Saturday the 13th of November- Special Paritta Chanting at GLBV from 6.00 PM. 

 

* Katina Ceremony - on Sunday the 14th, November at “Country Place Community Center”, 21100 W. Glen Haven, Northville, MI 48167, 

Sunday, November 14th:

09:30 A.M. Arrival of Maha Sangha and lay community

10:00 A.M. Procession of the Katina Robe

10:30 A.M. Buddha Pooja

10:45 A.M. Katina Pooja [specially prepared robe]

11:15 A.M. Dana (alms giving) for community of monks

12:15 P.M. Lunch for the lay community

1:30 P.M. Offering of Merits

2:30 P.M. End

The Kap Ruka (wish tree) will be available at GLBV, and extra robes for $ 30.00 to offer venerable monks will be available at the Katina Hall.
